Where is PokerSnowie heading?
Plans keep changing, which we believe is the nature of this business. We do of course follow customer suggestions but we're also driven by the results of our research, so what we plan isn't always executed as originally expected.
Having said that, if you are following us, you might have noticed that the Mac version has quite a number of improved features compared to the Windows version. Among others, we would like to mention:
- Improved Preflop Table in grid format
- Improved Range Advice in grid format
- Customizable live advice while training
- Program window resizable
- My evolution graph, to track your error rate over time
On the other hand, some features currently available on the Windows version are not available on Mac, the most important ones being:
- Hand Range
- PokerSnowie tip (preflop)
- Strategy Advisor
- Balance Page
- Filters and Statistics
Recently we've had an increasing number of Windows customers who have noticed these differences and are wondering why. This is, of course, a fair question.
Originally we wanted to fully develop the Mac version to a level where all the features included in the Windows one were also on the Mac, but while working on it, we found ways to make a few improvements and had some new ideas. Moreover, we are not sure anymore that the best objective is to actually “copy” the Windows version into a Mac one. As such, we've changed our plans and will soon release a brand new version for Windows that will have the exact same user interface as the Mac version. During this stage there will be two Windows versions available, though at some point we will stop supporting the older one.
In our original plans there was also the release of a brand new AI, which is actually ready. It has some quite different characteristics with respect to the previous one and it’s stronger. One of the most important differences, besides playing different strategies, is that it does not include the EV; instead we've developed a different parameter that gives an estimation of how far a move would be from a GTO perspective, independently from how much of a loss a potential error would cause in terms of EV. We are currently evaluating when and how to release this AI. Right now our preference would be to first make it available to play against, so that our users can start to get an idea of its strength, and later on include some analysis abilities.
Finally, in our plans we have several other ideas which include more options and features on the mobile apps, but this is not the right time to lay out everything that we have in mind.
