The PokerSnowie Video Quiz series aims to answer the question: "what is the right play?" It is a set of poker coaching videos presented by French professional poker player Sharp. In each video, Sharp sets up an interesting hand in the "Scenarios" tool of PokerSnowie and explains how to analyse the situation and learn from PokerSnowie's advice, based on the Game Theory Optimal model.

25% Pot Bet Size Example 2: Extracting Maximum Value

You are sitting in position with a very strong hand. How do you extract the maximum value?

You can certainly sandbag, just call and hope for more action on the river. That would keep the pot small though and there is only one more betting round left. The stacks are deep and represent a good opportunity to go for more chips.

If you raise 50% or more, the opponent folds a big portion of his range. Raising is not a bad move, but the EV is almost identical to calling.

A min-raise is the right compromise here and gains significant EV! By raising smaller the opponent folds less often and even re-raises a bit more often. The result is you build a more significant pot without scaring away the opponent too much.

Conclusion:

In many situations a small bet or a min-raise is the right strategy. Giving PokerSnowie this additional weapon increases its performance and the resulting advice reflects a more profound strategy. At the same time Snowie's aggressiveness has increased, which makes it even harder to play against.

We hope that you enjoy the new AI and you'll be able to further improve your own playing skill!
